Garden Club Plant Sale: March 26, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. in the Clubhouse

Spring Plant Sale

Sunday, March 20 is the first day of spring! The spring or vernal equinox—when the sun sits vertically above the equator—is when day and night are of equal length across the whole planet. The Niguel Shores Garden Club is celebrating the coming of spring with our annual fund raiser, the Plant Sale!

This sale is the major fund raiser for our club and will be held on Saturday, March 26 from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Niguel Shores Clubhouse.
Admission is $1 per person and $10 for a raffle ticket.

Every hour during the sale, we’ll draw a ticket for a special plant or gift certificate from one of our sponsoring local nurseries:

■ Dana Point Nursery
■ Green Thumb Nursery
■ Harvest Landscaping
■ Plant Depot
■ Seaside Growers Nursery

We will be selling beautiful plants suited to our coastal climate, cuttings and plants from our members’ gardens, and garden-related items. Local gardeners will be present to help you with your garden-related questions. Plus: home-baked cookies! For your convenience this year, you’ll be able to buy using both cash and PayPal.

“A flower will always grow in the direction of the sun because beauty recognizes beauty.” – Matshona Dhliwayo

Spring Wildflowers
Remember the anticipation of wildflower displays that come with the advent of Spring? Anza-Borrego Desert State Park received one inch of rain in December 2021, and the park is now sprinkled with tiny green seedlings: an indication that the annual wild flowers have germi- nated. However, they will need more rain and continued mild weather before park botanists can verify whether the park will have a wildflower superbloom this March. For more information and updates, please call the Anza- Borrego Wild Flower Hotline at (760) 767-4684.
