Women’s Club: Semper Fidelis

Semper Fidelis
The U.S. Marine Corps motto “Semper Fidelis—Always Faithful” represents the Marines’ collective commitment to each other, to our country, and to strength in whatever challenges lie ahead. How great if we all could use this motto as American citizens to commit to the success of our community, the progress of our nation, and to loyalty toward our fellow Americans.

Support for Our Marines
Each year, the Niguel Shores Women’s Club chooses a deserving cause for Community Outreach, and this year we focused on aid for the Marines returning from Afghanistan. These men and women from 2/1 Golf Company departed the Middle East and arrived at Camp Pendleton late at night with no basic supplies for their immediate needs. To welcome them back, the Marine Corps League, South Coast Detachment
022 put together “Barracks Booty Bags” containing towels, soap, shampoo, razers, toothpaste, and other toiletries for their immediate use. The Women’s Club purchased dozens of bath towels to be placed in the bags for each returning Marine. (See the photos on Page 10 of this issue.)
Luncheon News

Since the Veterans Day holiday falls on our regular meeting date, we will meet instead on the third Thursday this month, November 18. We will honor our military and hear from Pete Hammer, Commandant of the Marine Corps League, who will give us a behind-the-scenes synopsis of the League’s commitment to supporting Camp Pendleton Marines and their families, as well as their involvement with South Orange County organizations assisting Pendleton’s active service members, widows, orphans, and honorably wounded discharged Marines.

Thank you to John Yocca, our October speaker, for his wonderful presentation on cyber security and defending our technology from online attacks like identity and data theft. We love electronic communication but need to protect our private and valuable information.

Holiday Party
Please put December 9 on your calendars for our traditional Holiday Party from 5 to 8 p.m. in the Clubhouse. Instead of a luncheon in December, we invite you to bring your spouses or significant others to an evening filled with joyful music, hearty appetizers, and wine and beer for all. There is no charge, but we ask you to bring your favorite appetizer to share. The Clubhouse will be decorated for the season with a beautiful tree, garlands of greenery, festive plaid accents, and warm twinkling lights. Along with the Men’s Club, we will be collecting donated toys for the Marine children at this holiday event.

Membership
Any Niguel Shores ladies interested in joining our gregarious group, please contact Judy Palladino twopalls@yahoo.com or Jennifer Paige jenopaige@gmail.com for an application. We would love you to visit in November. Give us advance notice so we know you will be attending.
Have a blessed Thanksgiving filled with plates of love
and gratitude. God bless America!
