Really Serious Book Club: Behemoth: A History of the Factory and the Making of the Modern World, written by Josh Freeman

REALLY SERIOUS BOOK CLUB
The Really Serious Book Club met at the home of Norton Schwartz to review Behemoth: A History of the Factory and the Making of the Modern World, written by Josh Freeman. Freeman cites the first fabric factories in England where small children were used in large, then bigger multi-storied factories. He then discusses their evolution to the Ford factories with moving assembly lines, later copied by the Soviet Union for their war factories. Now, there are the large factories in Vietnam that still use children. Our members shared their own factory work experience,
or that of people they knew.
