DP Library: May 2016 News & Events

The following is a list of programs and events for May 2016. All events held in the Community Room unless otherwise noted. Walk-ins welcome. The Library will be closed on Monday, May 30 for Memorial Day.
Toddler and Preschool:
Toddler Storytime. Tuesday, May 3, 10, 17, 24, 31, 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. This event is for 18 -35 months accompanied by a parent or caregiver.
Stay and Play, Tuesday, May 3, 10, 17, 24, 31, 10:30 to 11:00 a.m. This event is for children of all ages accompanied by a parent or caregiver.
Preschool Storytime, May 3, 10, 17, 24, 31, 11:00 to 11:30 a.m. This event is for children 3 -5 years old accompanied by a parent or caregiver.
Children All Ages: The following events are for children of all ages with a parent or caregiver.
Free Comic Book Day, Saturday, May 7, as the supplies last. Enjoy crafts and activities about comic books and pick up a free comic book.
May 4, Wednesday, 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. Join us for crafts and activities about Star Wars.
PJ Storytime with the Sunshine Readers. Monday, May 23, 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Walk-ins welcome. Your children will love the high energy and antics of the Sunshine Readers!
Children School Age:
Homework Help. Mondays, May 2, 8, 16, 23, 3:30 p.m. and Wednesdays, May 11, 18, 25, 3:30 p.m. This event is for students grades K-8 for free assistances from high school tutors on a first come, first served basis. Homework help closed May 4. Read to a Dog. Wednesday, May 4, 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. and Tuesday, May 17, 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. This event is for beginning readers and is held in the Children’s Area.
Kids Club. Thursday, May 12, 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. This event is for school age children ages 5 to 8. This month will be hands on activities.
Tween, Teen:
Teen Time, Monday, May 9, 16, 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Ages 12-17. We are celebrating Teen Tech Week the entire month.
Teen Advisory Board. Monday, May 2, 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Teens, tell the library what you want. From books to programs, we want to know.
ACT Practice Test: Saturday, May 21, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Teens ages 12-17. Take a full length mock test under realistic conditions. On line registration is required at https://www.c2educate.com/dana-point-library/.
Tween Scene, Thursday May 19, 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. Tweens ages 9-12. This month learn about the science behind baseball.
Adults
Tea Time Book Club, Monday, May 23, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. for tea and book chats. Bring your favorite cup for tea.
Meet the Author, Tuesday, May 20, 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.
Meet the author Joe De Ladurantey. He is an ex-police officer.
His two new books are Cowards, Crooks, and Warriors and Rock & Roll and Doo-Wop.
Travel Adventures with Road Scholar. Friday, May 6, 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Learn about the Road Scholars Programs of Elderhostel and see how you can travel more.
