Page Turners Book Club – Devil in the Grove by Gilbert King

Page Turners Book Club will meet this month to discuss Devil in the Grove, by Gilbert King. This book received the Pulitzer Prize in 2013 for General Nonfiction, and was nominated for a 2013 Edgar Award. Both the Christian Science Monitor and the Boston Globe cited it as Book of the Year (non-fiction 2012). Christian Science Monitor says, “A compelling look at the case that forged Thurgood Marshall’s perception of himself as a crusader for civil rights. King’s style is at once suspenseful and historically meticulous”. This book sounds interesting and is a worthwhile read. Some have said it takes a while to complete. So, if you haven’t started, get a copy and begin.

The Thursday afternoon group will meet at the ClubHouse at 1:00 on September 18. The date was changed because of the Jewish holiday on its regularly scheduled date. The Monday afternoon group will meet on September 22. For more information about Page Turners contact: Diane Hearne: Phearne4@cox.net- 661-6267-Monday afternoon.
