Page Turners Book Club: July 2022

Page Turners Book Club was started by a very small group of Niguel Shores women over thirty years ago. Since then it has grown and now consists of three groups of approximately ten members each. Every spring the members suggest books for the upcoming “book club year” that runs September through the following June. The members then vote, and the nine books with the most votes are what all three groups will be reading. At our joint meeting in June, the results of the voting were revealed. The coming year’s selections are as follows:

THE LINCOLN HIGHWAY, Amor Towles

THE SECRET RIVER, Kate Grenville

WEST WITH GIRAFFES, Lydia Rutledge

RAIN OF GOLD, Victor Villasenor

A THOUSAND ACRES, Jane Smiley

OSCAR AND LUCINDA,

Peter Carey CROSSING TO SAFETY, Wallace Stegner

THE QUEEN OF PARIS, Pamela Binnings Ewen May

THE MIDNIGHT LIBRARY, Matt Haig

Twenty-five books were suggested this year and those that did not make the nine final choices provide a great list of reading material for the members. Some members keep these lists and I hear about books that were suggested a few years ago that are being enjoyed apart from the books discussed in the meetings.
One Page Turners group meets on the fourth Monday after- noon of the month and the other two groups meet separately, on the fourth Thursday afternoon of the month. We always welcome new members so if you think you would like to join us please contact Steve and Ann Morris about the Thursday groups at samwrsi@cox.net and for the Monday afternoon group contact me at fozimec@cox.net. We resume our regular
meeting schedule in September.
