Future Plans
The NS Historical Committee met in May to discuss creating a Niguel Shores History Club where
residents interested in our community’s history can gather socially, enjoy speakers, share their
stories, take field trips, or participate in preserving and maintaining Niguel Shores unique
identity for current and future residents. Watch for more information to come.
Certificate of Recognition
The County of Orange, through the office of Supervisor Katrina Foley, has commended the NS
Historical Committee for its actions in preserving the history of Niguel Shores.
Longtime Owners and Residents Honored
Thanks to a generous donation from Harvest Land-scaping and the efforts of our committee members
and vol-unteers, over 100 Niguel Shores longtime owners and residents were honored at a Legacy Tea
in April. Of those in attendance, Carole Daly, who purchased in 1971, won the “Longest Longtimer”
prize of a bottle of fine champagne. The following owners of 50 years or more attending the Tea
received the memorial booklet “Niguel Shores 1970-2026” compiled by Mary Crowl:
■ Barrett, Borsack, Gillespie, Gravely, Schwartzbaugh, Yocca (1972)
■ Mullen/Cook, McGrath, Freyling/Morris, O’Keefe (1973)
■ Hanna, Ozimec, Paslaqua/Trotter (1974)
■ Brame, Buchner (1975)
■ Kuhn, Leonard, Matarazzo, Pearson, Riffe, Theisen (1976)
Archives and Displays
We are planning to display items from Niguel Shores history so current and future residents can
view the long history and growth of our community from its earliest years. If you have something to share, please contact
NSHistoricalCommittee@hotmail.com.
