Bridge Group: March News & Recent Winners

March 2026 Bridge News & Recent Winners

Last month I threatened “ The Ides of March”!  However, after careful consideration, I decided to skip that period of history and focus on Bridge.  Bridge is a game that, as one ages, they can improve their skill, unlike athletic sports.   A skill in athletic sports can be improved by frequent playing and honed over a limited period of time.  In Bridge we see our mistakes and try not to repeat them.  Over time less mistakes creates better playing. This consideration can probably be said about any endeavor or game that we play or practice.  The first commandment of bridge is: Communication is essential in bidding.  Good communications allows players to accomplish the greatest score.  When playing Bridge with the Niguel Shores Bridge Club, you will be exposed to all levels of players and will sharpen your game by just listening and playing.  As Sherlock Holmes once said, “The game is afoot!”

Keep learning and playing.

January 21st, 2026: Betty French, with no surprise, came in 1st, and Glenda Wilson came in with an equally strong 2nd, but not to be outdone came Jack Barnard for 3rd.

January 28th, 2026:  Patti Liebman lead the great parade with 1st, and Betty French scored for 2nd followed closely by Bob Ruben for 3rd.

February 4th, 2026: Mary Biegel show us how the game is to be played and came in 1st.   Still not believing he came in 2nd was Mike Oliva and his Best Buddy, Bob French came in 3rd.

February 11th, 2026: Patty Hollis was awarded 1st place while Jim Pinola and Betty French battled it out for 2nd and 3rd place.  The difference was only 20 points. Betty French showed us what a good winner she is while placing in the top 3 positions over the last 4 weeks.  The one week she was absent, her husband Bob French placed 3rd.

Join us, if you are interested in playing.   Please give a call to Bob or Betty French at (949) 312-2556 or visit us on Wednesdays after 2:00 pm.
