Dana Derby Wraps the Season with Style and Spirit

The Dana Derby on June 12 was a stylish and spirited affair, co-chaired by dynamic duo Anna Kwit and Carey Smith, and supported by an outstanding committee of volunteers including Cathy Burgner, Dianne Cahill, Olivia Downs, Tracy Gino, Karen Hanley, Randa Memo, Leslie Moore, Marnie Olia, Karey Palmer, Laura Pentz, Carla Perin, Kris Perry, Suzette Rhorer, Jenny Rose, Meg Schuler, Vicki Sheff, Julie Tomkins, and Toni Williams.
Reflecting on the event, Carey Smith shared, “With the teamwork of our amazing committee, the Dana Derby exceeded my expectations! It was so rewarding to see our members laughing and having so much fun. What a perfect way to end the NSWC season.”
The venue came alive with classic derby décor, elegant rose centerpieces, a photo backdrop adorned by a balloon arch and a dazzling display of raffle prizes. Guests vied for a Duffy boat cruise, a Shores happy hour experience, a Livemetta Pilates sessions, a DP Dermatology package, a plush Dippy Dolphin robe, a pickleball set, interior design consultation by Rhonda Dunlevie, and a variety of fun beach bags and accessories.
The catering team—Randa Memo, Meg Schuler, Vicki Sheff, and Toni Williams—delivered an elegant spread of deviled eggs, pulled pork, chicken salad, and tea sandwiches. Desserts included macarons, bundtinis, and indulgent bourbon balls. Dianne Cahill assembled indibon balls. Dianne Cahill assembled individual charcuterie cups. Signature cocktails—the classic Mint Julep and vibrant Shores Lily—added a festive laughs to the race were Susie Breslin, Nancy Capelli,
Southern flair to the celebration. Sandra Lindstrom, Paula Maier, Gigi McDonnell, and jockeys—one chosen from each table—trained by Cathy Festivities also included the swearing-in
of new officers for the upcoming year: President Laurel Yocca, Vice Presidents Carole Daly and Sharon Stewart,
Secretary Meg Schuler, and Treasurer Cathy Tyson.

Bluff Happy Hour
The Women’s Club gathered again on June 25 for a sun- set celebration on the beach bluff. Members enjoyed snacks, good conversation, and a breathtaking sunset.

Board Get-Together
At the Board’s end-of-year social, President Laurel Yocca shared heartfelt thanks for the contributions of outgoing Board members, noting: “While we prepare to welcome new faces and say goodbye to some dear friends, I look ahead to next year with excitement and confidence. Change brings opportunity, and I know the Women’s Club will continue to grow, thrive, and inspire.” She expressed a special “Thank You” to the retiring Board members: Suzanne Enis, Carla Perin, Adrienne Ruben, Cathy Burgner, Sue Palmer, and Cynthia Talley.

4ᵗʰ of July Bake Sale and Cake Walk
Looking ahead, the club’s 4ᵗʰ of July chairs Marietta Hannigan and Patti Staudenbaur remind all bakers to drop off their baked goods at the Clubhouse on July 3 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. A sign-up sheet and recipe cards are available in the NS Office for all those who would like to contribute something for the 4ᵗʰ of July Bake Sale and Cakewalk. Please sign up if you haven’t already done so.

With cherished traditions and a forward-looking spirit, the Women’s Club wraps up the year with gratitude—and great anticipation for what’s to come.
