Women’s Club Mad Hatter’s Tea: June 8, 2023

“April Showers Bring May Flowers” was the theme of the Women’s Club May luncheon. In line with this theme, we welcomed guest speaker, South Coast Water District Board member and former Niguel Shores resident, Rick Erkeneff. Erkeneff informed us about local water resources and issues and plans for a future desalination plant in Dana Point. The proposed Doheny Ocean Desalination Project would create a reliable, local, and drought-proof water supply for Dana Point and surrounding areas by 2028. For more detailed information about this project and South Coast Water District, please refer to https://www.scwd.org/about/district_projects/.

In addition to serving on the Board of SCWD, Erkeneff has been an active member of the Surfrider Foundation, where he has pro- moted responsible water management, educated about issues with water conservation and water quality, and organized countless beach cleanup efforts through- out the Dana Point area. We appreciate the time he spent to bet- ter educate us about water resources in our community and city.

A group of Women’s Club ladies enjoyed a delicious lunch at the beautiful, newly located Maison Cafe on May 18 as part of the monthly Outside Activity.

Members are looking forward to the upcoming Mad Hatter’s Tea on Thursday, June 8, chaired by Suzanne Enis. Attendees will be treated to a delicious variety of tea sandwiches, fruit cups, scones, muffins, madeleines and other sweets prepared by our amazing members. Members, be sure to RSVP when you receive your email invitation to this wonderful end-of-the-year celebration!

We welcome residents to join us in the fall for one of our monthly luncheons where the focus is always on “fun, friendship and service” in our Niguel Shores community.
