Garden Club: December Recap

T’was the week before Christmas when all through Niguel Shores, lots of creatures were stirring and even several more. The wreaths were hung on the entrance gates with care in hopes that none would accidently fall down there. The office staff were nestled in their comfortable chairs with visions of complainers still in their hair. Marla and Ivy had just settled down to talk budget when out in the parking lot there arose such a clatter they sprang to the door to see what was the matter. Throwing open the door and putting out their heads they saw at least 8 merry trotting members, some with fake antlers on their heads, carting in plants, presents and food. They guessed it: The Annual Garden Club Christmas Party was on!
Yes, our annual Joy To The World and Niguel Shores Christmas party filled the clubhouse with happy, excited, smiling faces on Monday, December 18, all in anticipation of the exchange of presents stacked under the—I mean—on top of the gift table. Members were asked to bring a garden-related gift to exchange, and if they forgot they were required to sing I left my gift in San Francisco.
We enjoyed a colorful array of delicious salads and desserts brought by members to fortify themselves for the exciting task ahead of choosing a gift when their name was pulled out of the proverbial hat. Believe me, there were some real treasures to be had, unless you were one of the unfortunate last to be called! Overall, it was a great way for the club to end 2017.
For our first meeting of the new year on January 15 we have an excellent speaker, Julie Bawden Davis, who will tell us all we need to know about growing interior plants. Don’t miss it. We will also have committee signup sheets for the April plant sale and June BBQ. Happy New Year to
you all!
