Really Serious Oreo Book Club: A Brief History of Humankind, Parts I and II by Yuval Havari

Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind, Parts I and II by Yuval Havari, a thoughtful and thought-provoking book, was discussed by the group. While we did not agree with some of the author’s speculations and conclusions, the subject of the development of sapiens and our institutions from earliest times has been a fascinating journey.
Sapiens as a destroyer of the Neanderthals and our cognitive revolution were concepts developed by the author, as well as the false promise and trap of the Agricultural Revolution. Multiple copies of the book are available in our Dana Point library. We will discuss Parts II and III of the book at the next meeting on August 16 at the home of Mary Crowl. Norton Schwartz hosted this meeting and led the discussion. Priscilla Agnew will lead at the next meeting.
