The Garden Club’s first meeting of the New Year was on Monday, January 16. As always, the Hospitality team of Grace Glatt, Carmen Murphy, and Joanne Webb provided many delicious and tasty foods and a mouthwatering dessert.
President Gunjan Anand announced the club activities for the remainder of this club year and asked members to sign up to help in the remaining activities: Plant Sale (April), Member’s Garden Tour (May) and Beach Bluff BBQ (June). A financial report was given by Treasurer Karl Kuhn. Members Mike Oliva, Nadine Allen, and Karl Kuhn spoke on interesting garden topics. However, the highlight of the meeting was viewing a video provided by member Barbara Milner showing the beautiful McBryde & Allerton Gardens in Kauai.
The next meeting will be a field trip to Helena Modjeska House and Garden on Wednesday, February 22. Members will meet in the Community parking lot at 9:00 a.m. to carpool to this event and are asked to bring a bag lunch to enjoy after the tour at the nearby Tucker Bird Sanctuary. A $5.00 tour entrance fee will be collected at the parking lot.
