Garden Club Beach Bluff BBQ: June 20, 2016 from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m.

The Garden Club organized a field trip to the San Diego Museum of Art. It has been a tradition to transform the museum into a gorgeous vision of art and flowers each year. In this 35th iteration, the exhibit featured over 100 floral interpretations of famous works, from the Orient, India and Europe. The floral artists came from many parts of California. The museum is located in Balboa Park. It is
worth a visit.
The Garden Club had its annual plant sale on Saturday, May 7. Thanks to all the members who contributed plants and or garden equipment for the sale. Special thanks to Carmen, for overseeing the hospitality throughout the day, Gunjan, Francine, Karla, Nadine and Jerry Allen for all their work in setting up the tables and pricing on Friday, Lee and Jack Sweeny for their help with the raffle and finally and most importantly, Carol and Karl for looking after the money collected! Thanks also to the members who helped out with various chores through out the day The Dana Point nursery made a generous contribution of a variety of plants. The sale was very successfully thanks to the Niguel Shores community who supported it by their purchases. Part of the money collected goes towards scholarships for veterans getting a degree in horticulture.
Our last Garden Club meeting will be our Beach Bluff BBQ on June 20 from noon to 3:00 p.m.
Finally, I have been writing for the Garden Club but I must confess I have no plants in my house. They won’t live for me. Some of them don’t even wait to die; they commit suicide! Garden Club members may want to remember that when they vote for office holders for next year!
