Oreo Cookie Book Club: Elon Musk by Ashlee Vance

We reviewed the book Justice by M. Sandel who summarized the ethical philosophies of Plato, Socrates, Benthem, Mill, and Kant among others to lend guidance to many of theethical problems of our times—such as organ donation, military conscription, abortion, surrogate parenthood, abortion and end of life decisions. Also, we covered some abstract ethical problems he proposed. Rich Schwartz led the discussion which touched on the minimum requisites for a moral philosophy.
The subject, being both broad and deep, could only be covered on some high points in the time allocated for the meeting. The group came to no conclusions, but was able to narrow some of the ambiguities.
The next meeting, on the third Wednesday of October, will be at the home of Norton Schwartz where we will discuss the book Elon Musk by Ashlee Vance. Ginny Nevitt will lead the discussion.
