Men’s Golf – December Update

On November 12 we played at Twin Oaks Golf Club where we had a great turnout and beautiful weather. The game played was “Combined Net Foursomes”.

First Place with a net score 283 went to the team of Roy Dohner, John Lawton, and Bob Russell. Second Place with a net score 285 went to the team of Jack Sweeney, Bill Verbrugge, Charlie Clark, and Peter Rask. Closest to the pin on #3: Morry Dohner. Closest to the pin on #17: No winner.

Our final event in 2013 will be our annual putting contest at Talega Golf Course on December 10. It’s a great time and is followed by a good big breakfast.

We welcome anyone who wants to join our group. We have golfers of every skill level from single digit handicaps to very high handicaps.

Our only requirement is that you have fun. For more information contact Roy Dohner at roy@dohner.com, or Bob Russell at russler65@gmail.com.

Golf Rules:

■■ Rule 5: Putts that stop close enough to the cup that they

could be blown in, may be blown in. This does not apply

to balls more than three inches from the hole. No one

wants to make a travesty of the game.

■■ Rule 6.a.9(k): There is no penalty for so-called “out of

bounds.” If penny-pinching golf course owners bought

sufficient land, this would not occur. The senior golfer

deserves an apology, not a penalty.

■■ Rule 7.g.15(z): There is no penalty for a ball in a water

hazard, as golf balls should float. Senior golfers should

not be penalized for manufacturers’ shortcomings.
