2013 Board Candidate Information – Homeowners, Be sure to Vote!

Information on the candidates for the two open board posistions for the 2013-2015 terms are list below.

John Dougherty

I was born in New Jersey, earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering, married Joanne and relocated to California. In 1973 we moved to Niguel Shores with our two young sons. We raised our family here enjoying our friends, sailing and the pleasures of the beach life. Our family now includes six wonderful grandchildren. In 1991 I retired, attended law

school and began the practice of law. Sadly Joanne passed away in 2012.

I first served on the Board about 30 years ago and found it a rewarding experience. I was privileged to serve again as President during the construction of our new ClubHouse and expansion of the Beach Bluff Park. I am currently serving on the Board and wish to continue to assist in the further implementation of the landscape program in a manner that upgrades the esthetics of our community’s landscaping in a cost effective manner and to develop a solution to the revetment issue that does not expose the community to substantial financial liability.

Finally I am committed to seeing that our association dues are prudently expended and that Niguel Shores continues to be the great community we all enjoy.

Pat O’Brien

I was born and raised in Southern California and am now 65 years old. I lived in Downey, attended school there and then joined the Downey Police Department at 21 years of age. I retired as Robbery-homicide Sergeant in 2002 after 32 years with the Police Department.

In 2002 my wife and I moved to Niguel Shores. After moving here, I volunteered for the Traffic and Safety Committee which I served on until elected to the Board of Directors in 2007. I served as Secretary and 1st Vice President during my term on the Board. I then served on the Finance Committee and, in May 2011, was elected to the Board for a second term, serving as Secretary and President. My experience and knowledge of our community helps in resolving the current matters and issues that are before the Board.

Niguel Shores has a history of being well maintained and has the lowest association dues in the area. I will work to maintain this and keep Niguel Shores one of the best places to live.
